
Nagaland State was inaugurated
as the sixteenth State of India on 1st Dec, 1963. It is bounded
by Assam in the West, Myanmar (Burma) on the East, Arunachal
Pradesh and parts of Assam on the North and Manipur in the
South. The State is inhabited by 16 major tribes along with
other sub-tribes. Each tribe can be famed from the others
by their customs, culture, languages and dress, and folklore,
which are traditionally very rich and has been handed down
the generations.
Nature could not have been

CULTURES
& TRADITIONS OF NAGALAND
Naga tribes has very rich
culture and traditions, which they are carrying till date.
One important part of the Naga culture, is their famous Morung
traditions, which reflects the society structure of the tribes.
Morung is a dormitory of the male community which is decorated
with the hunting trophies and weapons for the safeguard of
the village. It is where the village boys are taught the ancestral
folksongs and folktales. It is in the Morung all the decisions
of the village affairs are taken. The feast of merit is another
important part of the Naga society. It reflects the pride
and honour of the villagers and gives him a special place
in the society.
FAIRS
& FESTIVALS OF MANIPUR
Fairs and festivity is the
distinctive part of Naga life. Different tribes of the state
has their own festivals and every single festivals marks the
new year and the harvest festivals.
